The SST-II Hydraulic Bi-Fold System

The One and Only Hydraulically Operated Bi-Fold System

The patented SST-II Hydraulic Bi-Folding System (Patent No. 8,714,229) opens vertically, allowing smooth, quiet access between environments with just the press of a button. By incorporating the SST-II Bi-Folding Door or Window System, the barrier between interior and exterior vanishes, letting the ambience of the outdoors flow in. Design the SST-II into your interior spaces and watch walls disappear, allowing light and motion to easily move throughout.

Why SST-II Hydraulic Bi-Fold?

Hydraulically Operated

The use of hydraulic cylinders eliminates cables, straps, locking mechanisms, pulley’s, springs, etc., offering the cleanest and least obstructive panel face in the market.

Safety

The hydraulic system eliminates all pinch points and moving parts typically associated with a cable or strap system.

Remote Power

The power unit may be located anywhere in the building, thereby providing customers with quieter operation, and contributing to a cleaner look.

Easy Installation

The simplicity of the SST-II pre-hung mounting frame means installation is cost-effective and straight-forward.

All Steel Construction

Narrower steel profiles allow for more glass volume and greater visibility.

Features

  • Shipped powder-coat finished. A full array of standard, non-standard, and custom colors are available, with few exceptions.
  • Manual lowering system in case of power failure
  • Total security without the use of locking mechanisms – The hydraulic cylinders draw the system panels closed with 1,000+ lbs. of force, creating a tight seal around the perimeter
  • Full perimeter weather seals
  • Integral mounting frame to limit loads on the structure
  • Heavy-duty bottom rollers are completely captured by the SST-II frame, keeping the system secure at all times
  • No floor track is required – Nothing to impair movement through the opening
  • When open the system forms an awning providing protection from the weather and sun
  • The use of hydraulics eliminates the need for limit switches

Options

Motor/Power Unit

The motor/power unit may be located anywhere within the building – Close proximity to the hydraulic door or window is not necessary.

Controls

Choose from a standard up/down, 2-button, or key control for system operation. A weather-resistant control is also available. All controls are constant contact.

Safety

Infrared photo eyes or a lead-edge sensor are available, to either stop, or stop and reverse the motion of the door or window. Optional warning horn and strobe light indicate system operation.

Remote Operation

Remote Transmitters offer ease of entry upon approach. Transmitters are constant contact. For safety reasons, we require either photo eyes or a lead-edge sensor with remote transmitters.

Cladding

For turn-key products, we offer our glass retainer system (glass stops) and a variety of dual or single pane glazing options. All factory-supplied glass is laminated for safety. Customers may also elect to provide a virtually unlimited number of inserts such as polycarbonate, steel or wood, to name just a few.

Finish

Crown Doors finishes each of our projects right here, in factory, using our state-of-the-art powder-coat facility, and our custom-design mantra follows through to our finish options as well – A full array of standard, non-standard, and custom colors are available, with few exceptions. We maintain a small list of customer-favorite colors as “standards,” though virtually any “non-standard” or entirely custom finish options are available (may affect cost and lead time).

Additionally, projects may be manufactured from stainless steel, available for corrosive environments (seaside or pool house installations). Stainless systems may be powder-coated as well.
